Overcoming the “Zero” Friction

Most people never start. Not because they lack talent or resources, but because they are paralyzed by the Friction of Zero.In physics, static friction (the force holding a stationary object in place) is always higher than kinetic friction (the force acting against an object already in motion).

The same is true for your projects.

Moving from a standstill to your first inch of progress requires the greatest burst of energy you will ever expend. To overcome this, we have to re-wire how you view the starting line.

The Myth of “The Perfect Setup”

One of the biggest traps at the Origin Point is Productive Procrastination. This is when you spend three weeks researching the “perfect” note-taking app, buying $500 worth of desk accessories, or waiting for a “sign” that the market is ready.

At Origin Zero, we advocate for Essentialism.

You do not need the most expensive software.

You do not need a completed five-year plan.

You need a Minimum Viable Origin

Identifying Your Minimum Viable Origin (MVO)

Your MVO is the absolute smallest set of tools and data points required to produce one unit of value.

If you are writing a book, your MVO is a blank document and a keyboard.

If you are starting a store, your MVO is one product and one way to take a payment.

Anything beyond the MVO at Day One isn’t a “resource”

—it’s a distraction.
